Meet West Chester, Pa., Winner Frank Martin

Frank Martin is a veteran who served the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He enlisted at 17 and became a 1st lieutenant in the 376th bombardment group, the 514th squadron, 15th Air Force at the San Pancrazio Airfield in Italy. At 92 years old and after several seizures and strokes, Martin is still active and loves a great adventure, but his family thinks he and his wife need a safer, updated bathroom for their condo in West Chester, Pa.

The National Gypsum team and local Fox News morning crew arrived at Martin’s residence in July to share with him the exciting news he was chosen as a PURPLE-to-Perfect room renovation winner.

Currently, the bathroom is small, cramped and dimly lit, making it difficult for the Martins to move about. The shower/tub combination also makes it difficult to get in and out of the shower.

Interior Design Expert Anitra Mecadon is making big plans to redesign the space to make the condo’s only bathroom accessible to Martin and his wife as well as his family when they come to visit. An updated vanity and heating system will add organization and comfort, while the closet located behind the shower wall will be used to expand the space to add a convenient walk-in shower.

With strategic use of XP® Drywall and PermaBase® Cement Board beneath the shower and tile in the bathroom, the Martins will be protected from moisture, mold and mildew for years to come.
